Office of the Counselor

Hi! My name is Leigh Ann Hudgins and I have been an educator since 2008.  I taught 5th grade at Eagle Lake Intermediate School for 9 years and then I became the Reading Facilitator for 3 years.  I am very excited to now be the school counselor at Eagle Lake Intermediate School and Garwood Elementary.  I graduated from East Bernard High School, and received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from University of Houston Victoria and my Master of Education Degree in School Counseling from Lamar University.  I have one son who loves playing sports and keeps me on the road traveling to watch him play all throughout the year.

Classroom Guidance Lessons

Throughout the school year, I will be going into classrooms to provide classroom guidance lessons.  These lessons will include topics that are relevant to the entire school population such as bullying, feelings, self-esteem, character education, conflict resolution skills, studying and test taking skills, and drug prevention.

Individual Counseling

Students typically deal with difficult issues sometime during their school career. These concerns may include stressful family changes as well as conflicts with other students. As the school counselor, I am here to help students identify and work through individual problems they may be facing in order to help them be successful here at school.

Group Counseling

Group counseling allows us to provide personalized interventions to multiple students at once who are facing similar problems. Counseling groups are offered according to the needs of students and may include such issues as bullying, divorce, grief, self esteem and friendship.

I am really looking forward to this school year, and I am eager to support Rice CISD families in any way I can.  If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected]
